My Style Notes - Party Season

Laden with shopping bags and drowning in gift lists, we’re focused on the question of what to buy for our nearest and dearest. But let’s not forget the other dilemma of the season: the question of what to wear to the endless streams of cocktail parties, social gatherings, and festive dinners. Why not invest in yourself by picking out the perfect holiday pieces for you, choosing one winter trend to suit each occasion?! After all, it’s the most wonderful time of the year—shouldn’t your look be fabulous?

Inspiration: Dolce and Gabbana
Trend: Metallic
Occasion: Party night

Everything metallic, patent and lurex says that we are in a party mood. You can choose high shine items, more wearable metallics like dulled pewter or leather in metallic hues, or choose dresses with embellishments that give the outfit a reflective finish.

How to wear: Choose a high shine metallic leather skirt and keep the rest of the outfit in a neutral colour for going out to dinner. If the night includes clubs or bars, you could go all the way by choosing a sparkling dress, full of embellishments and details. This is the right night to shine and standout!
Accessorise this look with this seasons big earrings, giant hoops, supersize studs and tribal drops.

Inspiration: J Crew
Trend: Tomboy
Occasion: After work drinks

Menswear for women is super sexy and subtle at the same time. It has an effortless air and you can feel comfortable all night long. The mens coat is the main silhouette. Opt for a round shoulder style in pinstripes and always include a feminine accent; pointed heels, red lips or a chandelier earring.

How to wear: If your work party comes straight from the office, a tailored trouser worn with a polo neck and an oversized coat over the shoulders is office-friendly and chic enough for evening drinks. Style up after hours with a cool clutch and sky-high stilettos. Quirky print keeps it playful.

Inspiration: Saint Laurent
Trend: Dark romance
Occasion: Romantic date

Dont discard your floral dresses at the end of the summer, just add a sprinkling of something fluffy. A faux-fur tippet or sheepskin gilet is perfect for emulating Saint Laurent’s modern grunge and will keep you warm too. The feeling of the whole outfit is sexy and cosy, ideal for casual dinners or drinks with your love one.

How to wear: For a grungy and sexy accent, wear the floaty floral dress with spotty black tights and mannish shoes. Keep the look hard and cute at the same time.
If the look feels too young, dont wear it head to toe, just add a floral blouse under a furry jacket and finish the ensemble with a pencil skirt or classic jeans.

Inspiration: Isabel Marant
Trend: White
Occasion: New Year's Eve

All white outfits are a classic for New Years Eve in places where the party season is in summer. But this year, head to toe white is a major trend for winter, so it could be the perfect choice for New Year's Eves party style. White is classic and fresh. By choosing winter fabrics and texture and combine with metallic accessories it will look party ready, simple and effective.

How to wear: Tailored pieces look amazing in white, crisp shirts, pencil skirts or wide legs trousers. Go for minimalism and clean aesthetic.
Mix clean white with black for a formal look and with pastels for a playful look.

Inspiration: Topshop Unique
Trend: Leather
Occasion: Girl’s night out

Leather is here to stay because it is so trans-seasonal. You can wear it at the end of summer, autumn and trough the winter. The options are endless but the items of the season are the leather triangular skirt, the biker jacket and the leather trench.

How to wear: Wear the high-waisted triangular skirt with a cropped, chunky knit sweater or tuck a slim-fit one in to keep warm. Invest in a biker jacket. You can dress it up or down, it is timeless, great value for a piece that will never go out of style!
