IST English Poetry Recital

Spoken English Poetry Recital
English is the most widespread language in the world; a higher number of people speak Mandarin, but English covers a greater area.

Students at the International school of Tianjin learn English through studying drama, novels, poetry, short stories, journal writing, role-plays, speeches, discussions and interacting with each other. From the beginner levels to the more advanced, there are always opportunities for students to inquire, take risks and communicate as they build their confidence and improve their English levels.

On 22 March all students will have the opportunity to be involved in the Annual Speech Recital. Students will be given selected poems to learn and then perform in front of their school community. The competition will be seeking students who can use varying pitches, paces, volumes and other forms of expression. The event was first held in 2012 and proved to be very successful. This year, classes in Elementary will also be presenting choral speaking.

Here are some fun English language facts:
There is no egg in eggplant or ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple…
If teachers taught, why didn’t preachers praught?
We have noses that run and feet that smell.
Why, when I wind up my watch, do I start it, but when I wind up an essay, I end it?
In what language do people recite at a play, and play at a recital?
