Duke Bar and Restaurant: A must visit for Tianjin expats!

Situated in Tianjin’s Ao Cheng district, this laid back nightspot is a great place for expats to eat, drink, watch sports and listen to music. Located on the second floor of a more secluded part of the plaza, be careful not to miss this terrific bar! The inside of the venue has a relaxing, cosy feel with d茅cor that would not be out of place in a traditional western pub. The bar also has a spacious outside seating area- complete with a big screen for sports events. A perfect place to enjoy a beer and watch the football this summer! Opening hours are 5pm until late.

Food and drinks are reasonably priced by Tianjin standards. The food menu has a good range of tasty western snacks including; pizzas, burgers and pasta dishes. The Duke special burger is a particular favourite with the regulars. At just 38 RMB, it comes with salad, fries and has plenty of meat to soak up the booze. You can choose from a superb selection of local and foreign beers, or take your pick from over 30 cocktails the bar has to offer. There is a good variety of popular spirits and great tasting wines. The bar has different promotional offers every day of the week on beers, cocktails, shots and food. There are also some prize competitions to win.

On separate occasions I have tried the Pepperoni pizza and the Duke special burger and would certainly recommend both dishes. The portions are generous and tasty. It is definitely good value for money. Service is also friendly and fast. After eating you can watch the sports, play darts or simply relax and chat with friends. Modern and mostly western music plays at reasonable volume in the background- with the occasional live set from local acts. If you want to try a new place to chill out, have a meal and a drink- give the Duke bar and restaurant a try!
