OSTERIA 02bIt may look like your average neighbourhood pizza joint from outside, but Osteria is anything but that. I wandered in with some friends on a Thursday night, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and the incredible aroma of baking pizza. When we stepped in at 6pm it wasn鈥檛 busy yet, we grabbed a table and it filled up quickly.

OSTERIA 02aSitting at the table I couldn鈥檛 help, but get the illusion of sitting in a cosy Italian paradise, looking at white and grey brick walls with an arch filled with pasta and ingredients and the plants giving life to the space.

OSTERIA 02cEnrico, the co-owner of Osteria, is originally from Bologna, Italy, and has been in China long enough to strike up a conversation in Chinese or English. Which makes it convenient for both locals and international diners at the restaurant, no need to use hand signals to order.

OSTERIA 05OSTERIA 06The menu has a variety of options, which include appetizers, salads, desserts and everything in between. What do you expect from an Italian paradise? Great pizza and pasta. We ordered a Toscana salad. When it arrived, it was a feast to the eyes even before tasting it. The crunchy cucumbers with tomatoes and olives were tasty and to add to that, the buffalo mozzarella and croutons brought the salad nicely together.

OSTERIA 07OSTERIA 13For our mains we ordered a Diavola Pizza and Spaghetti alla carbonara. While enjoying a beer and reminiscing about good times with friends, we didn鈥檛 even notice time passing. When we looked up the waiter brought our pizza.

OSTERIA 15A Typical Neapolitan style pizza, soft, elastic tender and fragrant. It is made with light dough that won鈥檛 weigh you down. The pizza is in the oven for about 60 to 90 seconds to get that perfect thin base with fluffy crust. We had our main ready to devour in a few minutes. Enrico suggested a spicy oil to go with our pizza and it sure was an experience with the flavour bomb of the Buffalo Mozzarella, tomato and fresh basil. The Spaghetti alla carbonara arrived shortly after the pizza. It was the perfect combination of pasta and bacon sprinkled with black pepper.

OSTERIA 17We were barely done with our meal and already contemplated our next visit. You can enjoy a great lunch from 11:30 - 14:00 and dinner is available from 18:00 - 22:00. For dinner, it is a good idea to book a table in advance if you want to ensure you have that special table you prefer.
