DSC 2135Among the vast variety of dining facilities in Tianjin, there is still a room left for development, innovation and new concepts. Amid newly opened and creative restaurants, team of Tianjin+ has discovered Blufish Coffee shop and Restaurant. Located in a not crowded yet popular area, the restaurant features great interior design 鈥 a spacious room divided into two sections with green and blue elements. As the main concept of the restaurant is freshness and healthiness, the restaurant is also generously decorated with variety of potted flowers and big-leafed plants.

 

If you are looking for refreshing cup of coffee after wandering around all the luxury and cosmetic shops inside Galaxy Mall and Lotte Plaza, this place will definitely be the right choice. According to the chef of the restaurant, George He, all baristas at Blufish are truly professional. It is not a secret that among the thousands of coffee shops in Tianjin, it is still a challenge to find at least decent quality cappuccino.

DSC 1944At Blufish, where baristas have special masterclasses and professional development seminars on a weekly basis, customer expectations for quality are answered. In addition, after sampling the classic americano, latte and cappuccino, guests can indulge themselves with some special coffee based beverages like Blue Seattle (Americano with soda) or My Friends (coffee beer). For those, who don鈥檛 believe in drinking coffee after 9a.m., but still enjoy its rich taste, Blufish offers decaf and TeeCafe - a rare bird in Tianjin.

 

When it comes to something more consistent, Blufish Restaurant features quite a diverse and interesting menu. As the chef George He and his colleagues have had rich experiences working in high-standard establishments like the Marriott, Renaissance and other 5-star hotels, all meals in Blufish have a creative touch. The menu includes snacks, salads, main courses, desserts and two special sections - savoury crepes and croissant pizza. The latter is a chef鈥檚 special: 鈥淓veryone enjoys croissants with its mild taste and crispy soft texture. And, of course, everyone loves eating pizza. So, we had an idea to combine these two champions and we鈥檝e come to realise that it was in fact a brilliant idea! Our guests - Chinese and foreigners - enjoy it very much!鈥

DSC 2001Another chef鈥檚 favourite 鈥 a variation of the traditional Cobb salad - is a truly healthy dish. With a handsome line of avocado, this salad is a great option for consuming fewer calories but without leaving you hungry. Instead of the classic mayonnaise-based sauce, chef uses a light, sour one and replaces deep fried bacon with low-fat beef. George He notes: 鈥淲e want to make our dishes as healthy as possible - it is part of our philosophy and concept. For that reason we revised popular dishes in order to make them lighter, yet nutritious鈥.

 2For more healthy delights, seafood is one of the specialities of the restaurant. As for further recommendations, George He likes to intrigue his guests with black octopus ink spaghetti - a dish that won鈥檛 leave you unimpressed. Frankly, the black colour is daunting, but don鈥檛 worry: a sip of water and it will be the taste that you remember.

DSC 2042Desserts take a special place on the menu - something that goes well with the coffee is what Blufish offers. Aside from cheesecake and tiramisu, the restaurant is ready to prepare all kinds of crepes, hand-made ice-cream and variety of classical French desserts. Due to high quality of ingredients and professionalism of chefs, desserts are as delicious as they look - something that is hard to find.

 3Overall, the restaurant doesn鈥檛 have a hidden kitchen due to its 鈥渙pen to guests鈥 philosophy. You can practically see your dish or dessert being prepared and not worry about where it came from or how clean and trustworthy the place was. George points out that Blufish is driven by quality and uses a lot of imported ingredients like meat, seafood, milk, cream and oil. 鈥淚t is important for us to stay honest with our guests and deliver the best quality food. Maybe it is the reason why for such a short period of time we鈥檝e already gained popularity and got a number of loyal customers鈥, George says. 鈥淟ike in any business, you need to try your best and encourage your team to do so and guests will certainly appreciate your efforts.鈥

 

It is a great idea to stay in the Tianjin Museum area until the late evening and Blufish has something else besides the excellent food to lure you inside. There are some classic and special cocktails that can bring a little sparkle to your evening while watching the music fountain show from the restaurant. The Barmen have a light hand for long cocktails - Blue Hawaii, Pink Lady, Pomelo Forest - so if you are in for late evening, you should definitely treat yourself to one.
