HOW TO STUDY FOR AN EXAM When You Do Not Have Much Time

Everyone will agree on the fact that studying at the last hour is a very, very bad habit
Nevertheless, every student, for several different reasons, might find himself/herself in this difficult situation. What to do? What if you have only one day to prepare for an exam? Perhaps you have procrastinated way too much in the past weeks or, maybe you end up not having enough time because you had so many things to deal with. What to do then?

Well, first of all, do not give up and, above all do not panic. With discipline, focus, patience and a little bit of luck, you will be able to succeed and pass your next big test. The first thing to do is to create your own nest, a healthy and strong study environment where you can study without getting distracted. Stay away from your friends and do not study in group because it is very easy to get distracted if you are in the company of good friends. If you really need help from someone, make sure to create a study group made out of people only from your class and with whom you do not have a relationship. Avoid also comfortable seats like couches or bed. You need a sturdy chair and, most likely, a quiet library.
Before going to the library or in whatever quiet room you may have found, make a quick list of all the things you might need. This is important because, while you are studying, you absolutely do not have to worry about finding a highlighter or a post-it or a pen. Staying focused is what is going to help you pass your exam. Also, make sure not to bring anything that may distract you, especially your phone. If you can, leave it at home, you will survive for a day without it.
And finally, study hard but never forget to take breaks. If you do not rest periodically, your brain capacity will quickly burn out and you will not be able to do anything else or learn properly. You can use the Pomodoro Technique of time management and just make sure not to study for more than 1 hour straight. It is simply bad for your cognitive strength.
All of these tips, together with many others (making flash cards, repeating chapters out loud...) will force you to be more productive in less time. It will be extreme, but it is a sacrifice you can make for only 24 hours. You will sleep and rest more after the exam. Good luck!
